From downstairs, he couldn’t quite pinpoint if it was a TV playing or voices. Felix was at work, he knew that much since he saw him leave this morning. Plus, his car isn’t parked in the driveway. 

You on the other hand were supposed to be out with friends until lunch, and as Changbin peers down at the screen of his phone, it was clearly nowhere near lunch. He’s only about to have some breakfast. However, the ongoing noises from upstairs makes him curious to see what’s going on.

There’s no way an intruder broke in. Changbin couldn’t hear any clamour of items or hurried, shuffling footsteps across the floor. It only sounded like a voice.

I've noticed a lack of care towards sensitivity in this fandom. Horrorporn is not an excuse to be a bully and I'm tired of that being the scapegoat when confronted with certain behaviors, because at the end of the day it's just a fandom and worse content is created in mundane spaces every single day.

That being said, let's dig in.

Try going into your settings and utilizing the Filter tools. There's two types, one for tags and one for posts. You can learn more about the differences here, but in summary, Tag filters block posts containing certain tags, and Post filters block posts containing any trace of those tags/words. These are my filtered tags.

I blocked every variation of tags I don't want to see. It doesn't matter if they were used tags or not, if it was a way to spell it, it went in the list. It may be tedious, but I recommend doing this in both Tag and Post filters, that way you can stay in the spaces you enjoy without the burden of broken boundaries. (Blocking users especially guilty of those posts would also help. It doesn't have to be personal, it just has to be.)

A healthy diet of content is necessary if you engage in taboo or darker media. If you have one foot in BTD, make sure the other is somewhere safe. Not as a fall-back, but something you are actively engaging in. Follow blogs of all your tastes and make sure your dashboard is catered to you in balance.

If it's the characters you're attached to, never be afraid to rip them from their source material in favor of your mental wellbeing. Gatobob stated herself that everything that transpires in the games is only a possibility and that she personally likes to explore the darker outcomes, but that doesn't mean you should. Somewhere, Ren's date only arrived late. Somewhere, Lawrence's absence was noticed and he was caught before going under in the lake. Somewhere, Strade swallowed his pride long enough to wonder what was wrong with him and got the help he needed. Derek recognized he was following the bloody path of his family name and diverted. Celia thought ten, twenty, thirty years down the line and decided that's not a life she wanted. Mason embraced Sandy's opinion instead of rejecting it. (Removing them entirely is also an option. Really into Animal Crossing? What would Strade's role on your island be, or is he just a villager? You like Elder Scrolls? Well, where does Ren fit? Is he his own species entirely? Your own OC world would even do.)

Try new things. New shows, new games, new movies, and indulge in that fandom. Make friends there. Create a distance between yourself and BTD/TPOF. It won't be fast, it usually isn't easy, but shattering your fixation is the best way to remove yourself, and the best way to do that is to find another place for yourself elsewhere. Remember that one fandom you enjoyed 10 years ago? Would you still call yourself a super-mega-fan of it? Do you still occupy the fandom like you did when it was fresh? Make that BTD/TPOF. You can't force it, which is why I recommend media-surfing. Find something that does the trick. (For BTD, I would recommend something horror but not too brutal. My first recommendation is Marble Hornets. It can be watched on Youtube for free, and there's plenty of video essays and documentaries on it to get yourself started.)

Leading from a previous note, Make new things. Get into more OC oriented work. Find someone who is also very into their OC's and trade amongst each other. Create your own world to build and explore, publish work of said world, explore other peoples OC work, curate a space of friendly creativity where your word (regarding your work) is final. Deviantart and Toyhou.se are flush with original designs to be sold or given away, like a marketplace of characters to reiterate into your own if you're worried about designing one.

And finally, find other sites to scroll that are less horrorporn inclusive. Sometimes removing yourself altogether is for the best.

Horrorporn fandoms are just fandoms. They don't have to be more or less than that. And if they are, if they're no longer entertaining, there's no reason to stay. But that doesn't mean you aren't accepted here. Having boundaries in an extreme space doesn't make you less than others who can stomach it. Being sensitive doesn't make you small.

Hi Sarah! I have a question. The other day, the audio for "Hikari Furu with strings ver." was posted on YouTube. As far as I can remember, there is no official release of the "Hikari Furu with strings ver." audio, so do you know when this audio was released?

I also considered the possibility that the poster mixed new instrumental parts into the existing vocal data. However, even after comparing it with Kalafina's one-man live audio and live recordings already released such as "Animelo" and "Lisani", I was unable to find any vocal data that perfectly matched this strange video. Can you and followers of this blog solve this mystery? (I hope that the recordings of "Kalafina with strings LIVE" will be officially released.)

The video you mention is from the same YouTube Channel I talked about in a previous ASK HERE. I suspect it's also from the same person who uploaded that so-called unreleased "sprinter" live performance from last year (post 1 / post 2 / post 3 / post 4).

This "Kalafina Records" channel pretends to post "new" and/or "unreleased" content, however, I don't believe any of this is legit. These are all edits and compilations of already existing content but everything is changed in such a manner that the stuff appears new to casual fans. Among other things, they even have a fake "THE FIRST TAKE" performance which has gotten quite a lot of views. Apparently lots of people fall for a trap like that and actually believe this is real.

As you say, there's no official audio for this mysterious "Hikari Furu with strings" so for me, that's pretty much the end of the story. Even if this were a private bootlegged recording from a concert (which I very much doubt), it would not sound distorted like this. I only briefly skimmed through the video (I refuse to give this channel more of my view-time than necessary) but it was obvious from the get-go that the creator used some heavy-duty editing techniques and was possibly relying on more than one audio-track as base. The final result sounds pretty shitty if you ask me and you can definitely tell that someone manipulated the audio. There are so many programs/tools which can isolate or subtract certain vocals and instruments so this person clearly made use of them.

At the top of my head, I couldn't even list all the existing audio tracks from Kalafina's live performances of "Hikari Furu" (there are quite a few) but if anyone has the time as well as tools to try and compare all of them (+ the studio version) with this video, feel free to do that. But as mentioned above, I think it's not gonna be easy because this video could be a mixture of many different audio tracks.

Fair warning: I'd strongly advise against engaging too much with this channel's content. Imposters and attention-seekers like that should not be rewarded with views or subscriptions (which is why I am not linking to anything specific in this post).

Secondly, I can only assume that this was in response to my response to your unsolicited opinion on the wonderful piece @wormvirtues drew.

If that is the case, please note that it is entirely valid for you to have a differing opinion on the piece. Not everyone enjoys the same art, same works, same content as others and that is okay. You have your preferences and they don’t align with the work that was created.

What is not valid is you coming into an artist’s space after they spent hours working diligently to create something that wasn’t even for you and shit all over it because you didn’t enjoy it.

Lastly, here are some key etiquette lessons that can help you tremendously in your travels through fandom spaces:

1. Your Kink is Not My Kink (And That’s Okay!): More commonly known as the Kink Tomato! It means exactly what it says. You may not have a size difference kink, however there are many people that do. You wouldn’t want to be shamed for something you enjoy that others might not, right? So please don’t shit directly on someone’s work whether it be art, videos, or fics because you saw/read something you didn’t care for. It’s not for you and that’s fine, just keep on scrolling until you find something you like.

2. Don’t like, don’t read: Now, I realize this is mildly different because it’s art and it’s not like you can just unsee it, however, you can still acknowledge that this was not for you and again, just scroll on by.

3. Golden Rule (treat others as you would want to be treated): imagine you spend hours possibly days working on a piece, whether written, drawn, or recorded. You’ve put so much care and effort into this gift for a friend for their birthday because you care about them right? You want to show them how special they are to you, and then someone comes along and says it wasn’t good enough for them, that the characters you’ve created don’t match their perception and not only that but they try to shame you for ever having written/drawn/portrayed such a thing that was borne from love. Just because the creator put it out there for others to enjoy doesn’t mean it’s your job to ‘police’ their works. If you don’t like it, it’s not necessary for you to ruin a creator’s day by telling them how much you didn’t like it. Just scroll on by, find something you do like, and give that creator some love.

Which brings me to my last point:

4. Don’t comment if you have nothing positive to say: Artists/Cosplayers/Writers/etc aren’t looking for your criticism (unless specifically asked). They’re putting out their work in hopes that people will like it, and when people come into their dms/comments/public blogs/spaces giving unsolicited criticism on work that (I cannot emphasize enough) was not for them, it is incredibly fucking rude and discouraging and there is no place for that kind of behavior in public spaces (especially on the creator’s blog).

Please keep in mind that the people you are engaging with on the internet are not just avatars but living breathing human beings, just like yourself. They have thoughts and feelings and a desire to create and just because it isn’t something you enjoy, doesn’t mean you have to shit on then for having the “audacity” to create and post something not to your liking.

If it’s a nervous habit, they take notice of when you’re not doing so well and help remove you from the stressor.

“Everyone feeling okay?” Spike didn’t want to single you out, so she instead phrased it like she was checking on everyone.

Crusher, noticing your demeanor, would quickly pipe up. “I’m feeling a little overwhelmed,” he said, straight faced and stiff as a board. “Can we take a break somewhere?”

“Why certainly, Crusher! Thanks for speaking up!” You breathed a sigh of relief as you and the group moved to find somewhere quiet.

Scars, marks, acne, anything you may be insecure about, he assures you that it doesn’t diminish your worth even a bit! fuck. alright. i knew this day would come. here's my stance.

i choose not to align myself or identify with either pro- or antiship labels. i find the debate to be really tedious and blown out of proportion. i also don't want to be involved with any arguments, and i don't mind if you're pro or antiship. i follow people who identify with both, and people of both persuasions follow me.

however, i do believe in "live and let live", and in my mind that also extends to people who enjoy "distasteful"/"unethical" ships. fiction is fiction, and fiction (and shipping fictional characters) can be a healthy and safe way to explore themes, emotions, and interests that may be harmful irl. i read american psycho and loved it and that was the initial spark for this opinion - american psycho is fucked up. it's horrible. i would never enjoy a story like that if it was real. but it's not real, it's fiction, and it's well-written and fun to read and the feeling of powerlessness to stop this grotesque horror going on in the pages is something i really enjoy. that's what people get from fiction: a chance to explore something otherwise impossible.

i don't have a problem with rpf, as long as your enjoying of a ship does not actually harm the people involved, and you don't extend your shipping to assuming that your favorite celebrities are together irl or bashing their actual partners. that does cause harm, when you assume that your *fictional* ship of real people is actually *real*. i have both created and consumed rpf content, and i personally treat those ships the same as i would any other ship: the people involved are fictionalized characters, not the actual people themselves, and i don't purport that those rpf ships are real or possible.

important caveat: fiction can and does affect reality. the media we consume has a profound impact on the way we view the world. but it's not up to the internet to determine what's healthy or harmful for an individual person; that's up to the individual. if you or the people around you observe that you get really violent or aggressive after playing video games or watching violent movies, maybe you should take a step back and examine why that's happening. maybe take a break.******

therefore, i am in favor of letting people ship whatever they want. i do not engage with incest, underage, or noncon content, and you will not find it on my blog. i don't think it's generally appropriate to share that kind of content with people who are uncomfortable with it, and i think it's perfectly fair to block and not engage with anyone who doesn't share your views. i will sometimes block blogs that share that sort of content, not because i hate them as people, but because i dont vibe with it. but if you do enjoy that content, and you find that it doesn't impact your worldview or actions in a harmful way, then i absolutely won't stop you. ship and let ship.

okay there you go. i do not identify with either proship or antiship. i don't vibe with most proship content, but i do think it should be allowed to exist. fiction can have an impact on people, in both positive and negative ways, but it is by definition not itself real. it's up to individual people to determine what's appropriate for themselves, and i don't believe it's appropriate or necessary to police what others ship or enjoy. an attempt to wipe proship content from the internet is a rabbithole that can quickly lead to bad places (blocking of queer content, restriction of sexual content in general, and eventually restriction of educational materials for minors, for example. we're seeing this with the KOSA bill in the usa).

it's up to you to curate your experience. as our fujoshi foremothers would say: dead dove, do not eat. don't like, don't read.

*****THIS IS NOT AN ATTEMPT TO SPREAD THE MYTH THAT VIDEO GAMES CAUSE VIOLENCE OR ANYTHING RELATED TO THAT. studies have shown that in general, violent media does not directly spark violence. HOWEVER, on an individual basis, violent content HAS been observed to impact the actions of some people. just because it does not on average cause measurable difference, does not mean that it cannot affect some people's actions and perceptions. it is purely an individual phenomenon.

CW: GENRE-TYPICAL ELEMENTS

Window Window is, to reiterate, a horror story. As such, you can expect to find potentially unsettling imagery or events like you would any other horror! The following will especially be incorporated into the comic:

– violence (blood, injury, etc.)

– (temporary) character death

– heavy derealization, other elements of psychological horror

– scenes that may be upsetting for paranoid people

– body horror, forms that take on monstrous appearances (and I am talking ACTUAL body horror, not just, like, injuries. be aware!!)

Any element you'd expect to find in any given horror story is likely to appear in this one. Due to the medium being a webcomic, the violence may/will also be visually graphic.

CW: REAL-WORLD SUBJECTS

Window Window's setting brings with it a lot of real-world events and sensitive subject matter. These will not all be shown graphically, and some events will never be explicitly depicted at all. However, expect to find discussion (or at minimum, implications) of the following:

– intersectionality; related intersecting bigotry and targeted violence (ex: in school system, on a federal level, etc.)

– compartmentalization and complex trauma

– gun violence (it's not a major plot point but I want to specifically warn that there is discussion of a school shooting case in the context of character backstory)

That said, do not force yourself to read or engage if the content becomes too upsetting! Your wellbeing ALWAYS comes first.

All of these tie into each other; plot elements with heavy topics will not be standalone and are not present for no reason. I also want to note that not all of these warnings are going to apply for every character. It looks like a lot all listed out (and reasonably, because it is), but to clarify, there are fifteen characters total that all have very different life experiences, which is why the subjects are so varied.

Still keeping up warnings for them all, even if some are less relevant than others in the narrative, because I don't want to surprise people with triggering or sensitive information.

Nowhere near on the same level as literally any of that, but it's worth noting there also will be:

– swearing, some characters more than others
